Russell Baseball Pants or Southland Baseball Pants
There are many companies that sell baseball pants. Two of the more popular companies that sell baseball pants are Russell and Southland. These are two top sellers of this type of clothing and both have been in business for a good amount of time. These companies supply a great deal of baseball pants to baseball and softball players everywhere.
The tapered Russell Baseball pants are one of the hottest items they have right now. The main reason for this is because they do not have the elastic on the bottom of the leg the way that the Southland Baseball pants do. This may not be a huge point of contention, but there are preferences when it comes to the leg styles of the pants.
Some baseball players prefer the elastic at the bottom of the leg as it helps to keep the pant around the ankle while sliding into base or diving for a ball. Others feel that there is more freedom of movement when there is no elastic at the bottom of the pant leg.
This choice is purely a personal one and does not take away from the value of either type of baseball pants. Both types of baseballs pants also come with belt loops and two back pockets. This is in no way a comparison as they are both even when it comes to the back pockets and the belt loop issue.
The Russell Baseball pants only come in two colors. These two colors are white and grey. They are also the same two colors that are offered in the Southland Baseball pants of the same style. If you are looking for a different color or pin striping on the pants, you will have to choose another style from either of these companies.
One huge difference is in the materials used to make these pants. Russell uses a strong poly blend in their pants where Southland uses a fifty/fifty cotton and nylon blend. Those that prefer a pant that is cooler may want to go with the cotton blend.
This may not hold up as well when the player is diving for a ball or sliding into a base. If this is a concern than a stronger poly blend may be the more appropriate choice. Both pairs have the knees reinforced to protect the knees when playing so this is not much difference either. Southland also reinforces other stress areas where normal play can either damage the pants or create bad scraping or bruising of the player.
While there are many similarities between the two brands of baseball pants, there are also a few distinct differences as well. In some cases it is just a matter of personal preference that will lead a buyer to choosing one brand over the other. The brand really does not matter. It is the features that the brand offers that make them more popular than the other brand. Both offer a quality product at comparable prices.
